Hello Folks,
I took the train from Perigueux to Amboise and simply laid low the first night ... I have friends in Amboise and they were able to host me ... a beautiful home decorated in a style fashionable at the turn of the 20th century ... as guests were arriving the next day I moved to a local hotel .... and then started walking around the town looking for ... I don't know ...
There was a celebration of some kind going on and it quickly evidenced itself ... there was a brass band competition ... bands from the UK, Belgium, France and Germany were in town competing ... marching up and down the main street ... interesting ...
In a wine shop in town I saw that same picture of the Belgian tasting the wine and after a few minutes was able to ascertain that the picture was taken close to Montreuil ... about 20 km outside of town ... I bought a copy of the picture poster, I hired a car and drove out there ... beautiful countryside .... after some time I was able to chat with a local who knew the exact location of the photo and drove there ... it's an old farm house ... in need desperately of repair ...
I walked around for a while admiring the potential and possibilities and then I came across a crucifix embedded in the mortar of an outbuilding ... very low ... about 2 feet off the ground and under that a grill ... almost as if it was there to toast the base of the crucifix ....
'All is not as it appears' a voice uttered just behind me and as I turned in complete shock .... the man from Brussels simply smiled and said ... 'bonsoir monsieur ... we have been waiting for you' ...
..... to be continued ....
To quote from verse 1899 of the Krome Koan,
' ... yesterday I knew nothing ... today I know that ... '
